Covid-19 Information at Rowan Brae

To keep you, us, and other guests as safe as possible

1.  Our Guests

Payment (when booking direct and not through a third party agent):

  • Bank Transfer or PayPal – prior to arrival date – are the preferred methods, rather than cash (card payments cannot be facilitated – helps keep costs down)

Arrival:

Covid-19 – please note:  If you display symptoms of C-19 or feel at all unwell, Scottish government advice is not to travel.   We reserve the right not to allow access to accommodation if symptoms are being displayed

  • a minimum of 52 hours will have lapsed from last guest departure; therefore access to your Studio can be no earlier than 2:30 p.m. on your arrival date
  • physical distancing (currently 2 metres) should be observed through all interactions with others, including ourselves
  • please observe distancing and face covering guidelines when you arrive so you can safely be shown to your Studio – we will be doing the same
  • your Studio has its own access; Studio key (sanitised) will be in the lock of your door for you – there is also a key safe available

Departure:

  • following Scottish Government safety protocol guidelines guests are now requested to strip all bedlinens themselves and, together with towels/mat/tea towels, place all these in a bag that we will provide, closed securely and left in your Studio before you leave
  • there is no check out process, just leave any time before 10:30 a.m. on day of departure, leaving the key in the Studio door lock; there is no need to see us before you leave

General:

  • although each Studio has a separate entrance point, there are communal areas you may wish to use; please observe social distancing in these areas (internal corridors/stairs, top decked area/outdoor furniture, external steps, access and car parking spaces) and wear a facial covering /mask where appropriate
  • there are hand sanitisers available in the Studios which we are happy to supply but are a cost to us; it would help if you could bring and use your own personal hand sanitising products
  • sanitising cleaning products are in each Studio for your use – again these are complimentary, provided at our cost; please feel free to use as required during your stay
  • items we normally supply for guests (e.g. umbrellas, picnic sets, portable fan, iron and ironingboard) are now only available on request at present; we are happy to supply if asked, and when returned to us the item will be sanitised before further use

2. Us

Risks:

  • a Covid-19 Risk Assessment for Self Catering Properties has been completed using the Association of Scottish Self Caterers (ASSC) risk mitigation form which conforms to Scottish government guidelines and directives
  • the risk assessment will be reviewed monthly
  • the current risk assessment is available for guests to view at any time on request
  • all expected parameters (cleaning, sanitising, laundry, property maintenance, face coverings, physical distancing etc) are covered in the risk assessment and complied with

Cleaning:

  • between each guest vacating and new arrivals, our usual very high standard of cleaning will be supplemented by the C-19 cleaning guideline standards as advised by the Scottish government / ASSC
  • initially a steam cleaner will be used to steam clean all touchable surfaces including hard surfaces and floors, curtains, blinds, pillows, beds, cushions, chairs and sofas etc
  • cleaning and sanitising products conforming to the EN14675 or EN14476 antiviral antibacterial standard will then be used throughout to clean all appropriate surfaces, furniture, bathroom and kitchen fittings, all appliances, cupboards inside and out including bedroom furniture; pots, utensils, crockery and cutlery will be put through a high temperature dish washer programme, even if clean/unused
  • your Studio laundry – which you will have kindly bagged for us (bag provided) before you leave – will be washed at the highest temperature possible for the items; our bedlinen/protectors/towels/teatowels etc will also be rotated regularly so that fresh clean linens will have been ‘rested’ for a minimum of 1 week before being used again
  • all the above cleaning takes extra time, hence same day turnarounds (guests depart/new guests arrive) are not applicable at the current time
  • the extensive cleaning regime is as recommended by the ASSC; we use the ASSC Check List for Cleaning Self-catering Units (2 sides of A4) and this is available for guests to view on request

Training / Certification:

  • a training course in the prevention of C-19 has been undertaken, and the Certification can be viewed on display in the Studios’ main corridor
